Sweet as honey, smooth as silk
I seriously debated whether spending this much money on a receiver would make much of a difference. In the end I decided to treat myself and go top shelf for once. Well I have had this for 9 months now, and let me tell you, there IS a difference! The sound is just amazing. Very clear, clean sound. Rich and full smooth bass. Easy power. Just a delight to listen to.Some favorite features:YPAO room correction - first of all, the set up is easy and does a great job of creating a balanced sound. Even better, with YPAO volume control it adjusts the levels according to the volume. I can't tell you how great this is. I am a notorious volume addict and I love to blow the roof off as much as anybody, but truth be told I listen at low levels most of the time. With YPAO on you still get rich bass and a balanced sound even at low volumes. As a result it is easier to find an ideal listening level when reading or talking with friends.Musicast - streaming is so simple. I listen to Spotify or net radio most of the time and it is just seamless. The DA converter makes digital music sound great.Vintage sound for analog inputs. My vinyl sounds great!Build quality - Oh my god. From the brushed metal front, to the piano black wood sides, to the VU meters (!) to the gorgeous volume nob to the remarkably satisfying power switch, this unit is just beautiful and a pleasure to own. Like I said, I am mostly streaming and the app is wonderful, but if you are spinning vinyl you have the wonderful vintage feel from the amp that makes it a great analog experience. (Warning - it weighs a TON)Connectivity - HDMI, Bluetooth, FM radio, phono, USB - what can't you connect? I have my 1990s CD player hooked up to the optical - same old carousel now with modern high end DA converter. Sounds awesome. My speakers are Klipsch RP-8000F. They are pretty efficient and this unit is way more than enough power.I am listening to jazz a lot of the time, plus rock blues, lots of stuff. Everything has sounded great. Anything acoustic had been most impressive. Really demonstrates the clarity and richness of the sound and you can hear so much detail.Buy and enjoy!

THE BEST.......OF EVERYTHING.
I have been a stereo guy for a long time. My Pioneer 1050 was a great receiver. So was my old Marantz. But it was time to upgrade and get the new modern receiver. This receiver has exceeded my expectations. It has worked seamlessly. Sound is outstanding, I can hear so much more in my music, rather it be vinyl, CD, or yes, my Nakamichi Dragon Cassette deck. But that is just the start. I love listening to my Amazon Music through Prime at 44.1 kHz or higher, and I love the internet radio feature and bluetooth is seamless and clear and easy to use. I listen to TONS of free, almost commercial free music on net radio. Jazz is my favorite. Also some wonderful classical from Europe. I have not used the ARC for TV yet. This unit is high quality. If I could change one thing I would have the meters back lit instead of top lit. Not a deal breaker. This is easy to set up and operate. The remote is heavy and top shelf. Simple to use and the buttons are clean. The music cast app is MUCH improved over the old version I had a few years ago. It works so very well. I got the silver faced unit as you can see in the picture. It looks classic. If you are an audio person like me and my wife, you will not go wrong with this unit. Expensive, yeah. But you will not be sorry you got it. It's built like a tank at almost 50 pounds. Thank you Yamaha for a great product and building them like they did in the 70's during the golden age of stereo. Only with modern features. Oh, BTW the FM is over the top good on this unit. My stations that once had hiss or would not come in, lock right on and are as clear as a bell. I'm one happy guy.

Couldn’t Be Happier
The media could not be loaded. I’ve never spent this much for piece of audio equipment but I’m glad I did. This Yamaha is very well built and of a very high quality. The knobs are all brushed aluminum as is the faceplate. It sounds as good as it looks. I don’t currently use the YPAO but it’s a feature that you can toggle on or off when desired. It’s got plenty of power to run nearly any set of speakers. Mine is paired to an old pair of JBL 100s and a pair of Klipsch RP-600Miis, two polar opposite type of speakers, and sounds great with either set. I like the ability to be able to toggle back and forth between speaker pairs by using the remote versus only a switch on the face. Much of the sound could be tailored by using the Yamaha phone/tablet ap. The ap is very user friendly and intuitive. Bluetooth streaming sounds great as does the CD and phono inputs. Despite the receiver’s location in my basement, the over the air FM section is strong enough to pull in all my local stations, though I find myself using the net radio feature for even better sound. The VU/peak meters with dimmable lighting are icing on the cake. I’ve had a lot of stereo gear over the years, including a late 1970s Yamaha amp that still works perfectly, and this is a keeper.
