Easy to install. Check out You tube videos for good hints. Works as described. Works well, quality finish. Stops tailgate slamming down. Good safety feature

The media could not be loaded. Nice addition to my F150 for under $20 (March 2025). My driver side hinge cup broke off the tailgate due to rust. I welded the cup back on, but figured one of these assists would help soften the landing and prevent future shock/breakage at the hinge. Installation was relatively easy for an experienced mechanic. The tailgate ball/stud uses an existing hole so no drilling or guessing if you have in the right location. The included setting tool is actually one of the nicer I've used, the bearing disc sandwiched between the tool and insert is genius (I'll be using it again on another application). Function of the assist is as expected, with the tailgate open about 40-50% the assist slows the drop and softens the landing. For $20 it does very well.

Product was fairly easy to install. The torque screws on the tailgate access panel were a different size than the tool provided. Other than that installation went smooth. Product seems to be high quality and works perfectly.

Works great!! Tail gate now opens slow on its own. No more slamming tailgate!! I bought two of these and put one on each side of tailgate. Bought these after wife accidentally slammed opened my tailgate while my trailer was connected. The jack crank on my trailer lines up perfectly with the tailgate camera. Luckily the camera didn't shatter. This is a small investment for a costly camera. Thanks Ford for not putting these on at the factory on a $100,000 truck!!

Simple to install. Suggest you watch a video tutorial before. And make certain the thick compression cylinder is on the TOP attach point and the extended shaft on the bottom or else the tailgate will not close.

Works as it was designed to. Best part is that it is about half the price of the original and works much smoother than that companies as well.

For less than $20 its an Ok product, I wish I could gave it 3.5stars instead of 4, product installation its fairly easy until you have to insert the shock into the stubs, the retaining clips equipped on the shock does not hold it in place, it slips off the stud. Changed to the 2nd set of clips provided seem to be holding ok but replacing the clips on the shock its no easy task, takes some finagling to get them out and in place.
