Usefull information, Im so happy to have found this book
It's been 10 years since I was diagnosed with hashimotos. I was devastated when I found out about. My main symptom was the struggle with my weight it seemed like no matter how hard I worked my weight stayed the same, or sometimes even worse went up. I got to around 300 pounds and decided to have weightloss surgery. The hashimotos didn't affect the rapid weight loss that comes with the surgery and I lost half of my body weiget. I've been staying steady at 150 pounds for a few months now. Just because I've lost all this weight though I know that I still have hashimotos, the fear of gaining it all back is there. Since I have hit a stall or my body has said its done loosing weight, I knew I need to do something to make sure that I don't gain. Theres actually alot of information on hashimotos but it seems like all the info is so generic. I was able to review Karen fraziers the hashimotos 4 week plan. First costumer service was great, we had a few issues with my amazon aND they worked with me to get a copy. The book is easy to follow. The meal plans, shopping lists, and the self help is all great. The approach to everything she talks about is laid out in a way that's easy to understand. She doesn't just use big words and moves on she takes the time to explain. This is really a great read, I'm looking forward to actually trying the meals next. And the ingredients of the meals is 5 ingredients or less, that's my kind of meal!I received this product at a discount or free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. It has menus & shopping lists!
The Hashimoto's 4-Week Plan: A Holistic Guide to Treating Hypothyroidism Kindle Edition I looked into this book because like the author I suddenly felt like an old woman with unexplained weight gain, aches, and lots and lots of pains. I too had been told I had irritable bowel syndrome when I was younger, and I cry at toilet paper commercials, so I too was just as emotional. The forward and first section of this book are very informative describing the systems of Hashimoto’s, how your body works, specifically your immune system and white blood cells, auto immune diseases and their mechanisms, and how inflammation is a huge part of your body’s health. It explains how the Thyroid is a component of a bigger system, the Endocrine system to be exact, how the Thyroid works, with what hormones, and the many different Thyroid diseases. In section 3, it details the 3 approaches to clean eating, the Mediterranean diet, the Paleo diet, and the vegan diet (egads!). The recipes in the book contain amalgamation of all these approaches so you can tailor your recipes. That is very well thought out! It list the foods to avoid which are Alcohol (boo!), Corn (could take it or leave it), Dairy (oh no!), feedlot animal products, peanuts (?), processed foods (of course), Soy, sugar and artificial sweeteners, and wheat and gluten grains. It also lists foods to avoid until you get to a good place, and slowly reintroduce them and wait to see how they make you feel. These include Citrus fruits, fish & shellfish, nightshades, legumes, and tree nuts.Foods to enjoy are fruits & vegetables (except those in the nightshade family, animal proteins that are naturally raised, herbs & spices, grains, fat & oils, and few select condimens. This book has sample menus and shopping lists! That is one of my pet peeves, when a book claims you should follow their diet, and don’t have either, or only a sample menu. I love, love, love they give you shopping lists. The only bad thing I can say about this book is I wish it had more pictures!

Strange Beginnings
I skipped through the first section because I've been reading about Hashi's-Hypo for so long I'm tired of the information, which gets repeated often in books that deal with this subject. I jumped into the diet immediately and tried 2 recipes: "Slow Cooker Chicken and Mushroom Stew" and "Beef and Asparagus Stir-Fry." These two recipes are delicious and easy (inexpensive) to make. However, I don't know if it's diet related, but for 2 days I was anxious, aggressive, clumsy, and had a hard time focusing. The third day (and I may have stayed up too late the night before) I ate leftovers for lunch and had to leave work early because I just crashed. I was also eating some gluten products with these foods because, after all, it is Valentine's Day. I plan on getting to bed early tonight, so that I'll feel better in the morning, but this has been my experience so far. I wish I could speak with the author and find out if others have had this reaction to the recipes. I've never had issues with beef or chicken before, so I don't know what could be causing these issues. I will take my anti-anxiety meds with me to work tomorrow because these symptoms have interfered with me performing my job correctly.
