Good, easy, basic.. time tested
Heat, cool, fan. Temperature up or down. Basic good thermostat, do not set a program on these its annoyingfor techs... Use for basic units. Only can use with single stage forced air units or heat pumps but only without auxiliary heat. If you aren't sure you have auxiliary heat you do if your energy bill is really high in colder months ( kind of a joke there ) auxiliary heat is at the furnace and is pretty much a heating coil that a dryer similary. It's a coil that gets red hot when your heat pump can not keep up helping heat your house it is similar to emergency heat. Anyway this thermostat is easy to install and is a good basic thermostat for your house. I buy these frequently for side jobs. If they want to upgrade to a fancy wifi remote activated thermostat down the road I will also install those but they definitely have more issues in my experience anyway. Recommend if you are good with walking to your thermostat to adjust the temperature of your house

I'm sure it's a great product, as this is a reputable company
I'm sure it works great, I just ended up not needing it. I bought it to rule out the existing thermostat as the culprit to my AC issues, but discovered while flipping the breaker which the breaker box is directly next to the AC unit, that the AC unit has a compressor leak as soon as I kicked it back on. Nice cold air coming from the outside box. Hot air from the vents inside. Blower also works fine. I figured it out before this even arrived so I just turned it around and sent it back. I need an hvac guy. Not a thermostat. Good thing I know one and have evaporative cooling to hold us over in the meantime.

Might be fine, but wasn't sure if it would work with 2 wire
I had to call India? Pakistan? Who knows. I needed to know if my 2 wire set-up would work for this 3 wire stat. It took a while, but I started getting spam calls right after ( for a year). If you buy this, yes, it'll work with 2 wire set-up as well as 3. Don't call them. Mine is for sale.

It does the job it’s intended for.
This arrived quickly. I had no issues installing it even though my home has older wiring-it was built in 1930. I previously had an ancient thermostat-one that used mercury. Installing this newer model thermostat has been great. It keeps the temperature steady & can be programmed when you know you’ll be away from home awhile. It was inexpensive, yet it works great.

Didn't get to open it, so more of a review on the product itself having had one before.
I didn't get to use it. I know since I had one before how good these are, even though they do look cheaper than other newer models, these get the job done and work well. Unfortunately, what I thought was a failing thermostat was actually a failing hvac unit... so I now have this back up if I want to replace the one that came with the new set up. Can't go wrong with this brand. Product did arrive in box, new, as advertised and all of that. Quickly, as well.

Decent made but didn’t work for us
Why did you pick this product vs others?:I tried this thermostat due to its price and features. I was looking to replace one that went out. While it was relatively easy to install, I found that it was a bit more confusing to use and ended up blowing a fuse on my AC unit. We only used it a week or two and ended up having to replace it. If you need a basic operation I think it would be fine but overall I wouldn’t buy again for our use.

Great value for a programmable thermostat ~ easy install
This is programmable thermostat works as it should. This installation is very easy, less than 5 minutes connect it. Instructions are provided and are easy to follow. It is small and the screen is small and it is not backlit. It does everything I need it to. I would recommend it for the price point. You can’t beat it. I am not an electrician or A/C man, easy diy project.

Grrrr!
There was nothing wrong with my old thermostat except that it didn't indicate the temperature in the house and it needed electricity to operate. I bought this thermostat because it was inexpensive and I wanted a battery backup model so I wouldn't be without heat if the power goes out. I liked that the display was an innocuous gray instead of glaring green or brilliant blue like other thermostats. After having to read the manual to figure out how to set the thermostat to a constant temperature - something I think should be pretty easy to do without reading a manual, I found that this thermostat turns my heater on before the temperature drops to the programmed setting, then it runs the furnace constantly compared to my old manual thermostat set at the same temperature. With this thermostat, the heater runs and runs for approximately 15 minutes at a time (compared to my old thermostat that only ran my heater a few minutes). When the thermostat finally turns the heat off, it registers much higher than the temperature I set it to. If I lowered the setting, my house got much colder than I was used to before my heater turned on and my house still got way too warm by the time the thermostat turned my heater off.Why should I get uncomfortably cold because the thermostat doesn't kick on, then have to pay to heat my house to an uncomfortably warm temperature? I could tolerate a thermostat that is off by a degree or two, but heating to more than 5 degrees above the set temperature is not acceptable. If I had kept this thermostat, I'm sure my heating bills would have skyrocketed.Plus, I had to pay my handyman to install this piece of junk and I had to pay him to uninstall it and reinstall my old thermostat. Now that my old thermostat is reinstalled, the heater runs way less frequently than with this thermostat AND the temperature in my house doesn't fluctuate between being too cold and too warm.I definitely won't be buying another Honeywell product in the future.
