A Scholarly Translation
Frances Pritchett is an eminent scholar on Ghalib, but she is not a poet. She aims at producing translations of Ghalib's ghazals that stay close to the imagery and metaphors that the poet uses. Such translations are useful for other scholars but they do not convey the poetic qualities of the original.

Glad to have this edition and introduction to Ghalib
Glad to have this edition and introduction to Ghalib, but the book is far too expensive. I realize that books published by academic presses are priced for academic libraries, which are basically obligated to buy them, no matter the cost, but since this is a collection of poetry (albeit a difficult-to-find one) and not a scholarly treatise, you would think it would be priced like a poetry collection or a new book. It's not.
