👁️ Lightweight, Easy Setup and Reliable, My Experience with the ScanAvenger Wireless Scanner
The media could not be loaded. ✅ Why Trust This Review:We’ve been using multiple ScanAvenger Wireless Portable Scanners for our business inventory processes, connecting them primarily to iMacs. After extensive use, here’s my detailed review of the performance and overall functionality.✏️ Quick Summary:The ScanAvenger Wireless Portable 1D&2D Scanner has proven to be an essential tool for our business, offering quick, easy setup and seamless integration with macOS. While it supports various connections (iOS, Android, Linux, Windows, and macOS), we mainly use the USB dongle for simple plug-and-play functionality. It’s lightweight and ergonomic, minimizing hand fatigue during long sessions. The battery lasts impressively long, fully charging in about three hours, and we’ve never had one die on us during use. The scanner handles 1D and 2D barcodes effortlessly, including QR codes, making it highly versatile. While its wireless range is advertised as 493 feet in an obstacle-free environment, we found that with medium-density obstacles, it holds up well to about 50 feet before disconnecting—sufficient for our needs. However, the design of the stand could be improved, particularly the positioning of the power cord. It attaches to the back, but in a way that feels awkward when using the scanner. Despite this, the scanner has become a critical part of our workflow, and we now own five of them. It should be noted that this scanner does not work with platforms like Square, Shopify, or ShopKeep.📝 Design and Build:• Lightweight and Ergonomic: The scanner is extremely lightweight, minimizing hand fatigue during long use, making it perfect for continuous scanning sessions. Despite being made of plastic, it feels durable enough for daily use, though we handle it with care to ensure longevity.• Easy Installation: The plug-and-play functionality with USB-A is as simple as it gets. We use these with iMacs, and all it takes is plugging the dongle into the USB port—no need for complex setup or software.• Adjustable Stand: The scanner comes with a stand that is easy to use, but the positioning of the power cord is a bit awkward. When placing the scanner in the stand, the cord faces forward, which looks untidy and disrupts the aesthetic.🧐 Practical Use:• Excellent Battery Life: The scanner fully charges in about three hours, and we’ve never experienced one dying during use. It has plenty of battery life for full workdays, and we usually just recharge it at the end of each day.• Versatile Scanning: It handles both 1D and 2D barcodes seamlessly, including QR codes. It’s fast, accurate, and doesn’t miss a beat in our inventory process.• Wireless Range: The manufacturer claims a range of 493 feet in obstacle-free environments and 98 feet with medium-density obstacles. In our space, which has several obstacles, we get about 50 feet before it disconnects—still plenty of distance for our needs.⭐️ Advantages:• Lightweight and Comfortable: The ergonomic design makes this scanner perfect for extended use without causing hand fatigue.• Easy to Connect: With plug-and-play installation, we were up and running in seconds—just plug in the USB dongle, and it’s good to go.• Long Battery Life: The quick charge time and long battery life ensure the scanner is always ready when needed, with no fear of running out of power during a shift.⚠️ Considerations:• Stand Design: The design of the stand leaves something to be desired. The power cord attaches to the back of the scanner, but to properly dock it, the cord ends up facing forward. It’s not a dealbreaker, but it’s awkward and could be improved.• Platform Compatibility: Be aware that this scanner doesn’t work with platforms like Square, Shopify, or ShopKeep, so it may not be suitable for everyone’s business needs.• Wireless Range: While the range is decent, it falls short of the manufacturer’s claim in real-world settings with obstacles. We found that it works up to about 50 feet in our environment, which has several obstacles.📌 In Conclusion:The ScanAvenger Wireless Portable 1D&2D Scanner is a lightweight, reliable tool that has become an essential part of our inventory process. Its plug-and-play setup, versatile scanning capabilities, and long battery life make it ideal for businesses that need efficient and hassle-free scanning solutions. While the design of the stand could be improved, particularly with how the power cord is positioned, the scanner’s performance outweighs this minor inconvenience. Just keep in mind the compatibility limitations with platforms like Square and Shopify. Overall, it’s a solid investment for businesses that need quick and reliable barcode scanning.💡 Buying Guide:• Who It’s For: Ideal for businesses looking for a lightweight, wireless scanner that can handle both 1D and 2D barcodes with ease, and who don’t rely on Square, Shopify, or ShopKeep platforms.• What to Look For: Be prepared for the stand’s awkward cord placement, but otherwise expect great performance, long battery life, and easy installation.❓ FAQs:• How long does the battery last? We’ve never had one run out of battery during use, and it fully charges in about three hours.• What’s the wireless range? The scanner works up to about 50 feet with medium-density obstacles, which is plenty for most environments.• Is it compatible with Square or Shopify? No, the scanner does not work with Square, Shopify, or ShopKeep platforms.✍🏼 Final Thoughts:The ScanAvenger Wireless Portable 1D&2D Scanner is a highly efficient tool that has proven to be reliable for our business. With its easy setup, excellent battery life, and versatile scanning capabilities, it’s a great addition to any inventory process. While the stand’s design and platform compatibility may be limiting for some, the overall performance makes it a valuable investment for businesses needing a lightweight, dependable scanner. This review was written by U N O V I S I O N, where we focus on providing honest and detailed reviews to help consumers make informed decisions. It does what it should until it doesnt
No clue what sequence of config QR code sanning failed me but out-of-box the Scanner connected without hassle to my Android Phone with Bluetooth so that I was able to complete an inventorying task. From memory it was scanning with the scan button into a text file (google keep notes) and it was applying a carriage return so doing what I needed it to.Later on, on a second inventorying task of fewer items but scanning into Google Drive Sheets (to avoid having to copy the data from Keep Notes into Google Drive Sheets) the device decided to not transmit all the characters from nearly all of the scanned barcodes so I had to manually edit almost all of themIt also stopped doing carriage returns adding more manual edits which defeats entirely the purpose of this device.Update: It appears to depend on what app it is sending the data. Windows Notepad does not type out all the characters as decribed below, the same as with Google Drive Sheets on the phone, but Notepad++ it is working albeit with an inconsitent carriage return.Update: So after trying the config QR Codes again.. and enabling Sense Mode, Scanner appears to have been stuck in Storage Mode so was not transmitting output to connected devices.Couldn't for the life of me figure out how to connect it to the PC as when USB-B cable was plugged in the indicator light turns purple but nothing was coming out on screen.. (This was the Storage Mode issue).Still don't know what the dongle labled Dongle is supposed to do so dicthed the Dongle dongle, versus a UGREEN BT 5.4 dongle which was like the phone easy to set up and worked fine for PC after disabling Storage Mode. Tried the Dongle labeled Dongle again and it is working fine now. SO apparently all of this stems from the Scanner being a Way TOO Good at reading barcodes outside of the light and bar laser so be very careful with the config QR Codes cards, any sheets with multiple QR or barcodes, or anything at all that is in front of the scanner (while typing this up there was a little box with a barcodes off to the side and the Scanner kept randomly reading it). It will scan them (config QR codes) and then you wont know what mode it is in. Re: having a configurable QR code to create a config QR code with the exact config you need and master clear should be the only 2 config QR codes you need.So Eventually working with Phone and with the PC in all communications and scan modes, except the flakey carriage return and half read barcodes depending on the destination app, and even outputting Stored barcode data. So scanner Device is mostly still useless because the data is not reliably reaching the target location and is not adding carriage return reliably. This includes stored codes because some are mangled (which is fine since that is expected from any scanner). So either intentionally scan everything multiple times for redundancy and then delete dupes and mangled codes or expect to review all data regardless so adding time to task versus using a more reliable USB scanner.(for Windows Notpad) I have to tap buttons on the keyboard physically connected to the computer to get each remaining character to individual appear on screen. It is Bizarre nonsense that I have to manually press scan button to put the remaining portion of the scanned codes on screen then it only sends half of the code again (including carriage return to get to a new line then output half the scanned code). Occasionally the characters are lowercase (again this includes Stored codes), though they should all be consistenly upper case. There needs to be a master factory reset code with an indicator that data has been cleared and there is no config applied. Not just Data Clear, and drop paired BT device. There needs to be a config with a single leading character input QR code/setting/option as on Mobile for whatever reason HID (not just this scanner but even with a BT keyboard) is not engaged and needs to be engaged first before text input appears on screen. For example in Google Drive Sheets you have to select each new field otherwise a character will be missed from the start of each scanned barcode. It is not clear (however obvious) that the 2.4ghz dongle goes into the computer you want to send data to since the base has what appears to be a function USB A and B USB port.Also.. regarding the configs. The carriage return often causes issues because it will do Enter instead of Shift+Enter. If it is required for their to be 2 different configs it would allow the user to type in a comment field without sending the comment.

Great, less expensive option
This scanner has worked great for me. Seems to easily and quickly read barcodes. I can’t really speak to its battery life as it spends most of its time on the base/charger.
