Inverters are not a free lunch. To convert 12 volts DC to 110 AC it takes a lot of juice from an auto battery, which requires keeping the charging system going, or supplementing it with solar power. Like a large stereo, winch, or camping refrigeratot, it will run down the battery, which is why a separate isolated battery is the preferred method - or you can't start your vehicle.Watts aren't well understood by the consumer, amps are, this is about a 6 amp power source - the typical house plug is 15. Running a hair dryer, frig, air conditioner or large appliance isn't going to work long or well. Large motors like a 5hp air compressor, not so much. Those need a dedicated 5000 watt generator.This inverter does NOT come with a cigarette lighter plug in, the current draw is too much and would melt those. That's how much power it can pull. It does offer USB A ports, and two 110 AC - which can and will run battery chargers for power tools. Ryobi has no DC charger for vehicle use anymore, this can fill that gap with the standard AC chargers tools get, plus do other duty, for about the same price. In that regard, it's a win if you are out away from a plug in working and the job has burned thru your (limited) supply of tool batteries. Those aren't getting any cheaper as they upgrade. With this inverter I can keep my 3 4A batts charged up using them on a camp light, vac, radio, and air compressor in that 18v family, which is a great alternative to - ? Again, that brand has no DC charger in their catalogue now. None. And others? Rare, hard to find, a higher cost, and this fixes that problem,too.Using good 6ga stranded tinned cable, this can be hooked up semi permanently with the shortest runs possible, and using quick disconnect style jacks makes it easy to use and store (out of sight.) DC is notorious for losing current over long runs of wire, as RV and winch owners are aware, marine grade wire and short runs help that.It has a 35 amp ATO blade fuse with two spares for overcurrent protection, I'd recommend buying the lighted replacements that glow when they blow to quickly diagnose issues when needed. Overall, 750 watts doesn't sound like enough when someone is hauling all the conveniences of home in a trailer, and, it isn't - this can't do that job, it takes 3000 watts or more. The blessing is working with that limit to prevent overdoing it and discovering other ways to achieve low power consumption living outdoors or on the road. Keep in mind the larger inverters can and do exceed the capacity of an alternator under the hood - which is why ambulances have TWO alternators to keep up with the load. The typical high end stereo will need the same - isolated battery and a second alternator - but the sound shops will never tell you that.

bought one and charged it and it did not work called and had a long time for someone to answer also had to call a couple of times before someone answered was told to recharge for 48 hrs i did this twice and it did not work tried for a refund but they keep telling me to charge it

Almost - one horsepower is equal to 750 watts, 1/2 is 375 watts but motore need a surge of power to start 3x the rating so if no load on the 1/2 hp it MIGHT start ? hope that helps. john s

FALSE ADVERTISEMENT ON THE BOX!! Shows it sitting near someone's drink holder with USB and other things plugged in. Is their car battery mounted in the glove box because there is no f-in 12v cigarette lighter outlet plug.

This thing is a game changer. We purchased it for a camping trip to the Great Smoky Mountains. Love that fact that it shows the input voltage from the battery.
