NRS Healthcare Folding Portable Non Slip Commode, Medium, Grey and Black

Just what we needed only one problem it could and should be higher as they struggled to get up off it

I bought this for my elderly parents as an addition to the existing commode they had which was a bucket style chair that took up quite a lot of space.This one has been brilliant - it's lightweight, packs away in a jiffy, and is really easy to keep clean. Most importantly for me thought was it's really sturdy design.Mum especially preferred it because she could use the arm to stabilise herself as she sat down. She was a bit dubious because it looked overly functional, but in the end it did exactly what she needed it to do. For me as their main carer it was the ease with which I could clean it. I have to say, I haven't had a problem with any of the NRS products, they all seem to be well thought out and completely fit for purpose.

My only reservation is that it is fiddly to get the pot back in because it fits from the rear of the seat into a slot. Difficult to see and arthritic or stiff hands might not be able to push it through. The pot does not fit through the pot holder as would seem sensible.

Great buy I got this for my stay in hospital. There was only two on the ward. And it was less bulky and fit well in my little cubicle space, not having to share with the whole ward and knowing its been cleaned by myself properly. Fantastic buy.

Things I wish I'd thought through before getting this for my mother:1. There is no top and the lid of the bucket will not do for a top as it does not fit in the seat. Got to make a plan about covering it unless you enjoy sleeping with the smell.2. My mother has to move the entire unit in order to remove the bucket for emptying. I wanted to turn the bucket holder around so that she could simply slide the bucket out of the front of the unit, but it is impossible to do this, owing to the design. All I succeeded in doing in my attempt was to take it apart and then not be able to get the washers back in while reassembling it the original way around - the only way possible, which I could have realized if I had looked properly before taking it apart. It's annoying, as I would have looked for a different commode for her, but I cannot now return the item.I put sliders under the back feet, so at least my mother doesn't have to lift the unit to move it.

Ordered this for my elderly mum when she visits as we have no downstairs loo. It is very good quality and I like the fact it folds up so we can easily get it in and out the cupboard under the stairs.

Very well made and excellent value for money.
