The Complete Valley of the Kings: Tombs and Treasures of Egypt's Greatest Pharaohs

Goes into great detail on the tombs, contents, ancient kings and royalty, architecture, geology, assorted historical facts and suppositions. There are many sketches, and both black and white and color photos of tomb objects and mummies. Hope to read it before I visit the Valley next year.

This is the most complete book on The Valley of the Kings. It is so interesisng, and informative and has great pictures. It is well worth the money. Used but in very good shape just as advertised by the book seller. Before you go to Egypt , buy this book. I wish I had it in May 2008 when I went to Egypt.

I have read it and continue to consult it to prepare for a visit to Luxor and Valley of the Kings during the coming year.

I love history and this historical book was loaded with ancient history about Egypt's greatest Pharaohs.

I like this book because it described most of the important tombs in loving detail. Good pictures & very fine drawlings of the underground plan of the tombs. It's main flaw is the index. Many of the tombs in the index are only listed by their KV number & if you don't know that you can spend lots of time trying to find it.

Great stories of the Valley's discoveries. Super pictures of the tombs. See a real mummy! This is also a good reference book with lots of stats that can be useful for school papers. Lays out the dynasties (time periods). Absolutely fascinating!.

I have been to the Valley three times, the last time over 20 years ago. This book is an excellent refresher for what I have seen, and I learned a lot of facts that I never knew before. Highly recommended for anyone interested in the New Kingdom of Egypt.

Come al solito per i "the complete" in campo egittologico da parte di Thames & Hudson si ha davanti un libro fatto davvero molto bene, pieno di illustrazioni a colori, planimetrie, cartine e spiegazioni davvero dettagliate. Comprato dopo aver comprato "the complete pyramids" che mi è stato molto utile per archeologia egiziana all'università, entusiasta mi sono presa in seguito "the complete Temple" e "the complete cities" e già che c'ero ho preso anche questo. Scritto in un inglese comprensibilissimo anche per chi come me non è particolarmente dotato. Thames and Hudson sempre una garanzia.

I visited the King s Valley in 1996 and 2016.I visited the Queen s Valley in 1996 also. In 2016 I visited the tomb of Tutankhamen also. The funerary books of the Egyptians were plastered upon the walls as the Book of Gates.In 1996 there was a hollow from where I could see Isis and Nephtys welcoming the Sun.I had no guide in 1996,and I travelled by bicycle. In 2016 I visited the temple of Medinet Habu.In 1996 and 2016 I visited the Temple of Hatshepsut.In 1996 I visited a temple of Hathor at the Deir El Medina.In 2016 I took the balloon ride and the entire panorama of the King s Valley spread out before me.

Tombs and treasures of egypts greatest pharaohs is a fantastic book very well illistrated it is visited by thousands of tourists throughout the world, some eighty were dug in the valley at the height of the egyptian power, there tombs were stocked with incredible treasures and incredible paintings on the walls of the tombs,there was some famous kings like tutankhamun, ramesses and many of his sons, there are 532 illustrations and 76 colour photos, it tells you about the preparations for the afterlife,agents of the disscovery and about the tombs of the kings, this book tells you all about valleys burials,describing for each its discovery, architecture,the decoration and contents of the tombs, this book is very well put together by Nicholas Reeves, and Richard H,Wilkinson a fantastic book to read, if you want to know about the history on the valley of the kings then this is the best book to buy its a great book.

When a recent discovery of tombs was announced, I needed a book that would give me a map, an overview of neighbouring tombs, etc. For that purpose, this book by Reeves and Wilkinson is still the best there is.I bought a second hand edition; as it turned out a former library book in good condition. It is nicely wrapped in a plastic, transparant cover as libraries do to protect the outside of a book.I had a prompt delivery and enjoy Amazon's service by linking second hand books to new.
