I've bought this every year

Absolutely love Green Gobbler Fruit Fly Goodbye! I was battling a persistent fruit fly problem in my kitchen, and this product worked wonders. After pouring the recommended amount down the drain at night, I noticed a significant reduction in flies the next morning. The thick gel clings to the pipe walls, effectively eliminating the breeding grounds for these pests. It's easy to use, has a pleasant scent, and is safe for all types of plumbing. Highly recommend this to anyone dealing with fruit or drain fly issues!

What I did to eliminate my drain fly infestation and product review

I'd been dealing with a drain fly infestation for months and was at my wits end. Was killing 20-40 each day by hand or more. Tried all kinds of things to get rid of them - bug spray, lining my windows with bug spray, baking soda and vinegar down the drains, bug killer down the drains, sticky paper, and several other methods you've probably read about online. I even used one of those hand-held electric racket zappers to swipe at them which actually made hunting them down kind of fun. ZAP!The product: I used this pleasant smelling goo a few times as instructed and it seems to have taken care of much of the problem. After applying it to my shower drain and bathroom sink, the leftover gel around the drains had a bunch of drain fly carcasses in it the next day. I did the same thing over a period of about a week and more carcasses would appear each time. I have effectively eliminated a drain fly infestation which was driving me mad. Very cool!Keep in mind there were other tactics I employed because I wanted to be thorough and make sure these pests were GONE. So here are some suggestions which I hadn't seen listed on any of the "how to kill drain flies" sites. Adapt and use these in addition to using the gel and your problem will be no more.1) It seems drain flies LOVE bathroom towels, especially ones left up to dry. I would pick up my towel and three or four would immediately fly off of it. So I removed the towel from the bathroom when done with it and place it in my dryer where it was inaccessible. I think they use these to breed or nest. Yuck. You can replace the towels again once the flies have been eliminated.2) Remove bath mat, especially if made of cloth or wool. I think they breed there, too.3) Remove any cloth shower curtains (which can get very damp). Basically, remove anything that gets wet and collects human skin cells or byproducts.4) Flush out your jacuzzi if you have one. Jacuzzis have a lot of pipes which collect a lot of gunk just like your drain does. When I cleaned it out, a ton of unsightly organic effluvium came out, including a ton of fly carcasses. Blech! There are videos on Youtube showing how to do this.5) Put sticky paper on the window sills. This caught a TON of stray drain flies and other pests stuck between the window and outside.6) This is a bit more hardcore, but you may want to try buying a bug zapper and covering the windows in your living space and leave it on over night. Drain flies are attracted to light and will try to escape through your windows. When you block them out and provide only one source of light, they will be attracted to it. This seemed to help me a little bit. It captured and killed some of them but not as many as I'd hoped.7) Vacuum the heck out of your place. I'm not an expert but it seems they like our "leftovers", as in skin cells, dust and other elements produced by indirect human waste. If anything, you'll have a nice clean environment to live in.8) De-clutter any area where they seem to be thriving. This could help expose breeding points. The bathroom was my target as this was where most of them were congregating. I made it uninhabitable for them by stripping it bare.9) If you have a spider, she is your best friend. I had one who was systematically capturing and eating any stray drain flies. My own personal serial killer for hire. Spider caught more of these pests than my bug zapper. I must have counted around 40 carcasses! Do not kill any spiders. They feast on these critters. Keep them around! They are literally a secret weapon which costs you nothing, except maybe a few creepy crawly dreams.I think most of the problem was addressed by the drain gel, probably 90% of the issue. Could be more or less for you. But the chances of eliminating the problem will increase if you follow the steps above.Good luck with it!

Effective and easy to use.

Seems to work well though you may get equal results with mixtures of vinegar, salt , and baking sofa. Make sure you shake bottle to foam it up so it clings to inside of drains and pipes to eradicate drain flies.

Still testing BUT, CHECK YOUR OVERFLOW DRAINS TOO!!

Ok, I apologize in advance, but this WILL be long. I have had these annoying flies in my home for a few years now. I originally thought it was the house plants so I got rid of them. Then the dog food was infested...got rid of that too. I still see them. They fly in front of me and I notice them mainly while I am on the computer. Sometimes they stop on the monitor when I SMASH them. I SMASH them sometimes on the bathroom vanity mirrors too. Luckily, the monitor and mirrors have never broken. To be honest, I don't know what they really are. I have read for countless hours and looked at hundreds of pictures.....fungus gnats, drain flies, fruit flies.....I can't even read what I am typing without glasses so I suppose my chances of correctly identifying them are nill. I have no plants or fruit laying around in my home. I think that leaves the drains left. I have 9 drains that I am attempting to treat. Not sure if this matters, but I am on city water so I do not have any type of septic tank issues. I also clean my drains regularly with a hard brush. When I look into any drain in my home, it is white and pristine. I had my garbage disposal removed years ago. The only drains in my home that ever get funky are the ones where I brush my teeth so I make sure to clean those 2 drains more often and thoroughly. I think it is from white toothpastes that contain calcium. I'm slowly getting to a point here. My bathroom sinks have the sinkshrooms in the drains. They kind of "hug" the drains about 1.5" into the drain and do no let hair go down. If I am trying to spit toothpaste into the drain, I have never noticed it clog or slow the drain at all, ever. I am AT my point now. The point is, I have overflow drains on all of my bathroom sinks. I have never used them for their purpose. They just kind of exist there. BUT the sinkshrooms seem to hold that toothbrushing spit and from there it has backed up into the overflow drainholes and then they eventually drain some of whatever was in them. There are 4 overflow drain holes in each of my bathroom sink drains. I had never cleaned them out before because I never knowingly used them and kind of never really noticed them until last week when I spent 3 hours on each sink cleaning them out. THEY ARE GROSS and filled with funk that grows. I had my waterpick shooting water into them for over an hour, then I got my drain brushes and cleaned them from the top, then from the bottom up in each of the 4 overflow holes in the drain. sprayed cleaner, repeated everything until the brushes came out clean every time. Yes, I'm anal. I did this to each sink and it took me 2 days. Yes, I would absolutely think flies were attracted to the funk living in there! I say all this assuming this product is the bomb. If it does not work for you at all, try looking to see if your overflows are gross. You many need to treat them as well as clean them.I, soon, will be replacing my counters and the sinks too and I can assure you the new ones will NOT have an overflow drain. It was really as gross as a garbage disposal that had never been cleaned before. So, I went through all of that, and I still have a fly. I never had an overwhelming problem with these flies, it is just one or 2, but it is daily and annoying. My toilets are both brand new, 2 weeks old, they are sealed at the bottom with new grout. They are not the issue. Bath and shower stalls and bath overflow drain were cleaned as well. That leaves the laundry room drain which is a pipe in the wall. I am hopeful this will eliminate the problem, but the whole point of this review is to CHECK YOUR OVERFLOW DRAINS IF THEY NEED TO BE CLEANED TOO!UPDATE: I have used this gallon and it went very quickly in my home. It did not work. I resorted to purchasing an indoor/outdoor bug zapper and turned it on at night in my dark kitchen. Every time I turn it on, within 10 minutes I hear the sweet sound of success. I have only zapped 5 of these in the past week, obviously I don't have an overwhelming problem, but it is still annoying just the same. I think if I was willing to spend another 60- 120 on this product and treated every drain nightly, I might be satisfied, but definitely poorer. I will see what I can accomplish with the bug light only first. I may be back to repurchase this. In any event, I do LOVE the citronella scent to this. I am not completely sure how this is supposed to work, whether it is by coating the drain and smothering any larva that may exist there, or by the citronella oil in the product. In any event, what I did notice with this product is that the gel dries overnight and then turns into a dry film that coats everything it touches. That film seems to wash down the drain. It appears to have gone down in one huge piece down the drain until the water gets hot. I am hoping the hot water melts this dried film but I have not noticed any clogs either way. I noticed all of this because I coated the end of my tub with this too because there is a dip in the tub that likes to hold water....

It works.

The manager of our apartment gave us some other goop to use in our drains previously, but the sewer flies kept coming into our home. This stuff did the trick. Two gallons of it and they're mostly gone. Just one or two stragglers a day now. This is good stuff.
