CUBETEK EZCast HDMI Air Streamer Media Player (Black)

Pros:1.Works as advertised: glitch-free, good quality video, audio and photo streaming even from my slightly dated (Android 4.0) phone and tablet. Supports a wide range of video formats. DNLA with BubbleUPnP works well, but requires a little bit of setting up2. With a little extra initial buffering, non-HD web video is watchable even on a basic 512Kb broadband connection.3. Setting up was easy and trouble-free (for, it must be said, a fairly knowledgeable gadget-head)4. Prompt dispatch and good packing by seller.5. It was nice to hear from the manufacturer, Cubetek, who reached out to offer help and support.6. After the initial setup, my not-too-tech-savvy mom is able to use it to play movies, audio etc.Cons:1. Some security concerns about EZcast dongles (for eg. the insecure wireless protocol WPS is enabled in firmware) are known and haven't been fixed for quite some time now.2. Video rendering is darker than normal on a Sharp Aquos LCD TV. Not sure if this is a HDMI RGB range (limited or full) issue.3. On screen instructions and enclosed documentation is not particularly user-friendlyA couple of pitfalls to avoid:1. Do make sure that your phones/tablets support Miracast if screen-mirroring is a must have feature for you.2. The HDMI plug was too short to fit one of the two ports on my TV. Either Sharp or Cubetek has dropped the ball on this.If, like me, you're looking for a simple-to operate streaming device to play media from a bunch of devices -- tablet, phone, laptop as well as web video, then the EZCast dongle does the job very well. The initial setup is easy for tech-savvy after which it can be used by tech-novices as well. It has been reliable and glitch-free for the short period I've used it.If the more significant security issues are fixed and I can figure out how to brighten the video rendering, I'd give the product five stars.

We can mirror our mobile/laptop etc on TV. If connected with an HDMI to AV converter we can watch our mobile on our old CRT monitor also. However, the device has some lagging in the process. Recommends buy according to your requirement.

Cubetek EZcast HDMI Air Streamer is one my most recent additions to my gadgets list. The product appears to be reasonably OK. But the documentation for installation and establishing connectivity is pathetic.Though it connected well to my Office-TV through the TV's HDMI Port (with power being supplied to the unit through an USB Port), the performance is not as good as the direct connection through a HDMI cable.I have an HP Port Replicator which connects to several devices including an HDMI connection to my office TV. This TV has has three HDMI ports. I have connected my laptop through HDMI-1 using a HDMI Cable through the PORT Replicator, sometimes using the TV as my Monitor. Another HDMI port is used for my TATASKY DVI input and third one is connected to my HIKVISION NVR for livecast & playback through another of my servers which uses HDMI-2. This stream uses a HDMI Cable.I wanted to try out this CUBETEK EZCast HDMI Air Streamer so that whenever I am in my drawing room I can use the EZCast to stream videos and music directly to my home TV. My experience isn't that good and the video images stall and the often not as smooth as one would want this to be.There is significant latency and some frames are missed out and the AIR STREAMER is not able to cope up with the Frame Speeds.I am not aware of a better alternative. Cubetek ezcast streamer is a budget option that plays movies well.Pros:-Plays movies very well, including 1080p rips-Hassle free setup-Built-in Antenna helps for signal reception-Compatibility with most 3rd party appsCons:-The app provided has an unrefined UI-Was able to play subs only with the ezcast app, other apps couldn't go through-Hangs/lags at times-Found no app with YouTube play support. The ezcast apps youtube functionality is terrible.It's better to shell out a little more and purchase a Chromecast or FireStick, since those devices perform better, have a greater app support and are products from reputed companies. This streaming device is suited well for movies only.

Overall a good product, very good support from the seller which is rare. Product plays photo with very minimal lag. Audio is just fine but you cannot use it for playing video from your connected device, it buffers every 15-20 second and that is very irritating. Plays youtube from the inbuilt browser fine though. while it can connect to multiple devices, switching form one to another is not user friendly. Casting screen works fine, except on new devices like Moto X.

While the idea is good, the software is not good. From my android phone it casts in black & white. I am not able to find an answer for that. Also, why have a separate power supply from a USB cable? You can only project from your tablet, computer or phone. One cannot surf the net like smart TV, I was under the impression that I will be able to watch YouTube etc directly from the TV:((

Its is a very good EZCast dongle..sturdy and good quality.S/w support is also fine. Few apps other than the official EzeApp are available to play with. A motion sensing tennis game is also available.It works as expected. EZ mirror feature can be used to mirror Amazon prime app. Just make sure you keep the phone close to the dongle.Also the wifi broadcast does not work fine with my lenovo. I always need to take the phone very close to the dongle to connect initially. But it works fine with HTC phoneFor some of the videos the seek bar does not work. Netflix has done some tweaking at their end due to which the video does not comes on screen...juat audio does...so cant help there
