Excellent
Bought this to enable vocal/instrument recording on my iPad via the headphone socket to allow me to hear my vocals and the sound recorded on the other tracks. Mainly to record into Blocs Wave. I have tested this with various mics and instruments and the sound quality is really impressive. Firstly the splitter is beautifully constructed and feels well made. The connections are tight, allowing great signal transfer, and each of the connectors is labelled to show either headphone or mic connection. It should be pointed out that this works most successfully with 3 pole jacks. It literally splits the mic and headphone connections on the iPad to enable recording and listening at the same time. Also any mic or instrument plugged into it needs it’s own power eg phantom power. I have used it successfully with a PC condenser mic but actually the best results have come using good quality lapel mics. Because it ultimately sits in a chain, there is always the danger of increased impedance if the chain has too many connections eg a mic passed through a mixer or processor before the splitter might induce worse results. Personally it’s best to keep it simple and use it as the seller advises. This is a nice piece of kit, and looks and feels professional.

Not suitable for stereo microphones!!
I have just discovered that all 3.5 adapters like this are not capable to provide a stereo mic input to the phone. This is because the 3.5mm socket on your phone only supports a single mic input. If you plug a stereo mic into this then both mics are combined into a single mono input.Stereo headphones work fine and if you only use a mono external mic then that would be fine too but if you need to use a stereo mic then this is not for you.I will be returning it because of the stereo issue. I am still giving it 5 stars because it works very well for what it is, and it is the stereo issue is the fault of the phone, not adapter.

Worked for me using a OnePlus 7t
Wanted to use external mic for OnePlus 7t. Confusing product details but worked for me. It states in one part it doesn't work for TSR 2 pin and TSSR 4 pin. I have an external TSR 2 pin mic. However, in another part it states it does. If you have USB C you'll need a usb c to female jack and then plug in this adapter to the usb C adapter and attach the mic. The other thing is the mic only be works if the USB Cto phone is plugged a particular way up. Also your app should support external mic audio e.g. open app which must be enabled. I've found some apps work automatically so it's trial and error and largely depends on the app. It doesn't work for OP 7T native camera app.

Handy thing to have
This is really neat as the mic and headphone splits are clearly labeled. I can plug this into my Google Pixel 2 (with USB C adaptor) and it means I can turn my phone into an instant pro video camera for vlogging and interviews.I plug a lav mic or Rode shotgun mic in, plus my in-ear headphones for monitoring. I love stuff like this, just a simple, inexpensive cable can completely level up your setup.Quality is good and audio is transparent.

Connect external mic to MacBook Pro
I am using this to connect an external microphone to my MacBook Pro using the headphone jack. I would HIGHLY recommend it as a cheap work around for that application, and it is working wonders. Sometimes the mic isn’t recognised so I just unplug and plug it back in and it seems to do the trick.Absolutely definitely worth the price and seems well built and likely to last unlike some cables.

Yes, they work, but the picture does not match the item
As a splitter, they work and they work well... BUT... if like me you were looking for a splitter that had a thin bodied 3.5mm male plug then the picture is deceptive. They will fit all 3.5mm sockets *IF* the socket is not surrounded by the body of the item ...as is the case with my headphones.I was looking for something to fit the small recess provided by my headphones and the picture of this splitter looked perfect, but alas the gold rim you see before the silver coloured body of the plug is not there in reality.Shame, because the build quality is clearly very good.

Does what it needs to, good stuff.
Does exactly what I needed it to do. I was having trouble using an external microphone with my laptop which only has a 3.5mm jack input/output for headphones. I contacted the manufacturer of the microphone as they had included an email address for an adaptor if the microphone didn't work. I got sent a replacement which gave out a horrible squeal during recording and playback so I decided to take matters into my own hands and, after researching thoroughly, turns out it was as simple as splitting the channels to input (mic) and output (headphones) using this device. The 3 rings on the jack represent something called TRRC which is needed for input & output, rather than 2 rings which represents TRC, only allowing an output. Additionally, this adaptor has also allowed me to use my Samsung Galaxy S10+ with the externally microphone.

Stopped working after 1 month
I bought this adapter to allow me to connect my headset to my XBox. It worked perfectly for about 1 month of occasional use then the sound became intermittent. On closer examination I noticed that it was coming apart at the centre joint and bare wire was showing. I've contacted the seller and waiting a resolution.Update:I have since received the following email;"HelloSince you have ordered “Headphone Mic Splitters Adapter, POSUGEAR 3.5mm Male to 2 Dual 3.5mm Female Audio Mic Y Splitter Adapter Compatible with Phone ” and got an unpleasant experience. We apologize sincerely for that and hope make up.You'll get a refund by Paypal. Could you please modify your review to 5 stars or delete it? If yes, once you modify or delete your review, we'll refund you by Paypal immediately. Please let me know your option."Guess you only receive a refund if you remove negative reviews.
