A New Way to Have Fun with the Arduino
Arduino has come up with a supercharged version of the UNO and a plug-and-play technology to add modules. The plug-and-play makes it quick and easy to add new hardware to the Arduino. The Arduino UNO R4 WiFi adds a plethora of capability including WiFi, Bluetooth, and a 8x12 on-board led matrix. But be forewarned, the initial software setup of the new Arduino still requires a number of installation steps with the Arduino IDE. The documentation is excellent, so be sure to follow it carefully. You only have to do it once and then you are free to try out all the example programs ("sketches"). Push those buttons, light those lights, and many more. Have fun.

Cool kit with a bunch of learning opportunities.
Kits like this are great because of how easy they make it to learn. This comes with an Arduino UNO R4 WiFi, USB-C cable for power, 7 additional boards, cables to connect them, a base board to set them up on, and a decent amount of hardware for setting everything up on the base board. The Arduino Cloud integration is pretty cool and I don't think it's a terrible deal but I am getting pretty burnt out on all these monthly subscriptions. There is a free option and I think that's fine with the features they give. You don't even need to use it at all. I'm pretty new to this so I went ahead and used the free Cloud option and I think that a lot of new folks will be better off using that. Once you get the hang of it, then you can bypass the cloud altogether and really get deep in the weeds. I think if you're already at a point where you don't need the ease provided by the cloud, you're already at a level where this kit doesn't hold the same value. What I liked about it: Great starter kit. What I didn't like: Cloud subscription service is just one more monthly fee.Overall, I recommend this kit for beginners.

Was a great gift
Was exactly what my husband wanted. I wish I could say more but it is his gift and he loves it. He is a veteran computer systems person and defined this purchase as his new toy.It was a hit ! Hence the five stars! Thanks Amazon!

They will force you to purchase a monthly subscription??? are they out of their mind?
I decided to purchase an original Arduino to provide my son the experience of learning how to program microcontrollers using what I thought was one of the best systems out there. Well it seems, they expect you to pay another yearly or monthly subscription... this is insane... The price is already steep and should have at least one month of free membership. I couldn't even get the board provisioned before they shut access to the intro template. Arduino is just going to lose customers by doing this... purchasing hardware should automatically give at least 3 months of use.... one month? one week? 3 days? just to get to a point where the kid enjoys it a little... this is utterly frustrating. I cannot return it because I am traveling abroad. This is just not ethical.... it should clearly say that it requires a membership. I am very disappointed.

The people posting negative reviews should have done research before they bought the kit.
You do not have to sign for the Arduino Cloud. There is a free IDE download, for Windows, Mac and Linux. Have my Arduino connected to my ubuntu Linux laptop. I actually did the research before buying. Have you ever heard of Google Search?

Received a used version that was a mess
I received two Arduino brand kits today and both were previously opened and not correctly put back in the box. Neither were supposed to be refurbished. For this item, everything was loose in the box and the pieces were all scratched up, likely from bouncing around in there. There were many plastic bags in there that look like they once held the items, but nothing was covered or secure, just one big pile. Scratch marks clearly also showed they’d be used. Box with the arduino inside has been opened.
