Q: Can these be used for newborn diapers?

I would say yes because my son is using them and he's size 3. The pad length is only about 3/4 of the diaper and the width of the pad fits between the elastic perfectly. Hopefully this is helpful. Because these really do work.

Q: Would these work with underwear for potty training accidents?

You know, if your child goes a little yes. But, not a lot. They are great for adding to a diaper. They are also SO long. I believe they have one for infants that would be a little smaller in the underwear if it is small accidents. I think if you did training underwear (that thicker kind) and then something like this it would help but might have some leakage.
