Q: I bought this product and I am having trouble putting them on the pole. I have disconnected and pull out the lights in order to install, but no luck.

Your poles must be larger diameter than the ones on our trailer, they went on fine but had to put a couple of tie straps on them the get them to stay on, otherwise when I back the trailer in the water they would come up past the top of the pole, also they fade really fast, mine turned gray after the first season, was very disappointed in that.
