this was just what i was looking for in a family microscope. easy to use, fairly simple to get clear images. My kids are 5 so they lost interest quickly on each slide but i believe they will use it more and more as they get older.

I have been impressed with this for the price and quality. It arrives in a whole carrying case, with a dedicated place for the included slides, as well as the other optical pieces. This makes it easy to safely store in between uses. My kids, from ages 4-10 are able to use it independently. Excellent addition to our home classroom!

The original microscope I received had broken eyepieces--every eyepiece was broken--but it was quickly replaced and the new one is perfect. So customer service must be congratulated--it was quick and efficient. The eyepieces on the new microscope fit perfectly and work. I got the microscope to check out the life in our pond and it works for that, although therre are no slide covers so I needed to purchase those to use it effectively and make my own slides.The microscope came with a selection of prepared slides to get used to using the microscope and it was a nice selection that was interesting to view. There were also a few clean/blank slides to use but as I mentioned, there are no slide covers. I did use the slides with drops of pond water without slide covers and it is doable, just not the best.The microscope itself is very well made--mostly made from metal. There is a light that shines up from the bottom and one that shines down from the eyepiece area onto the subject. I can pick one or the other source of light via the on/off switch which rocks to the right for the upper light and rocks to the left for the lower light. The entire kit is encased in a really nice small case with a handle that protects everything very well. A cell phone holder is included to hold my cell phone so I can photograph whatever I'm looking at via the eyepiece. That worked surprisingly well for me. There is also a pipette to help prepare slides as well as a few other odds and ends.Overall, it's a really really nice microscope set. I only took one star off because of the lack of slide covers so that I could immediately use the blank slides to prepare my own using our pond water. It's a really minor complaint and isn't really a problem with the microscope per se.

We bought this for home schooling our grandson and we use it daily. A great resource at a great price!

My daughter really enjoyed this. It comes with small samples and u can look at the slides.

It was good for the first use... BARELY. Then the bottom led light stopped working all together and the top one was dim. I thought maybe it was,just defective and asked for a replacement. Replacement came in two days. The replacement worked for 10 minutes then the same thing happened... the light stopped working. I am now returning both and getting a whole different manufacturer microscope. Don't waste your time or money.

Great kit for the price. Has good magnification, good lights and easy to use eyepieces. Does have instructions, but if you have no idea what or how to use a microscope the instructions are not super clear. The instructions are not clear for a beginner. That would be my biggest complaint with it. Otherwise a great pice if equipment for the price.

Good micro for starting

The media could not be loaded. Love the microscope! It arrived in perfect condition and the optics are great for the price. No doubt about it. I think this would be suitable for anyone from a curious youngster right up to an undergrad science student.The instruction manual, on the other hand, need not even be supplied as it doesn’t even describe the extras that come with the microscope let alone offer practical direction on function.My main pet peeve though is the cellphone camera adapter. It’s a bit of a balancing act to hold it in position. There doesn’t seem to have been much thought put into its proportions at all. It can really only be used with the 2X and 25X eyepieces together as the inside diameter is too big for either the 10X or 25X eyepiece alone. I’m going to try a couple of rubber “O” rings to see if I can get better results.It would be advisable to get some proper slide covers as well. I tried just placing a second slide over my sample and this made it impossible to use the highest magnification objective as it can’t get close enough to the platform to focus.In spite of the stated issues, I’m still happy with my purchase!

I found this microscope surprisingly good for price paid. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great product at a reasonable price.

Gift for my 6yr old girl. She loves it. Two lights are so helpful for different type of samples.
