Pridefend Bolt Catch Pin Install Removal Tool Kit Starter Punch in Tin Case

This tool set is a MUST HAVE tool set to install the AR platform type Lower Receiver Bolt Catch mechanism. Well, ahem, yes you do not actually need this tool. You can pound in the locking Roll Pin into place with a BFH type hammer and a punch, but that method requires you to spend a lot of time applying tape in an attempt to protect the Lower Receiver from damage. This tool set allows a safer, faster, worry free, and damage free installation. This tool set is designed and manufactured very well including that it is "rubber" coated for protection. Take a chance on ruing your Lower Receiver or buy this tool set and stop worrying.

I got this from the reviews here, BUT I was mid way installing the roller pin and then the thin part of the pin just snapped. It's designed very beautifully and wrapped in this rubber plastic so it won't scratch your lower..but man..what did they make it out of..peanut brittle? I use a hard rubber mallet also which is perfect match for the rubberized handle of the roller pin punch..and I was taking tiny hits..anyway, skip this one..or order a few so you have a backup..lol

I like this punch set. Very nice and padded to protect the finish on the lower. I've used it a few times. It is outstanding for assembling the bolt catch. When it comes to removing a bolt catch pin to replace the bolt catch you will need another punch with a longer tip to drive the pin all the way out on 308 models. Even in that case, this set made started the pin out easily. That is probably not a common requirement.I still put a thin piece of cardboard between the punch and the lower to make sure I didn't scratch anything but that really isn't needed.

These are great for the occasional builder. I got them for the price and in a pinch. I have already broken the punch (after 15+ builds), but the starter punch should last forever. I'd say it's worth it.Use card stock or 3/5 card cut down in strips. Put the strip and painter tape right up to the hole. Don't go to far with the starter, before switch over to the punch, and go one tap at a time. If you get a small "smiley" mark, bust out and apply Aluminum Black and it'll look perfect.

This worked great for building an AR lower. The pin on the bolt release started with with just one tap using the punch designed to start the roll pin, and the other punch popped the pin into place with just a handful of light taps. This was one of the steps that I was dreading as a new AR builder, and it was 100 times simpler than I expected using this tool.
