Q: Usually the red is positive but the diagram shows red is negative & black is positive, can this be confirmed as it would the only part switched around

Not yet fitted mine, but they are switches fitted any where in the circuit. The Red is the circuit which makes and breaks (Switches on/off) whatever is connected to the middle empty terminal. The black needs connecting to negative of battery to provide a return for the light. At least that is what I expect. No diagram with mine.

Q: There is not much space behind where I want to add these switches, can the pins be bent out of the way to reduce the depth?

Yup. Had the same issue, you can use some needle nose pliers to bend them back neatly.

how do i wire up beacons lights do i just wire the possitve of the stobes to the empty pin on the back?
