Used on 2 holes in a soft angle aluminium , after that they became absolutely useless they do not even cut plastic. Of course by the time I used it, I got outside of the return window. I feel bad for the metal that was used to manufacture these.

I hesitated to make this purchase based on some of the reviews but in the end I'm glad I did. The first thing I did after receiving them, each individually packaged in a plastic tube, is to look at each of the countersinks machining. I did notice that 3 of the 4 had some slight amount of burring but as I looked closer I realized it was on the trailing edge not the cutting edge. They machine a small amount of material off the trailing edge to expose a cutting edge. When doing so, the tool they're using to take the material off (likely a grinding wheel) rolls some material over into the bore. You really don't even need to clean it up, just roll with it.Using these to cut chamfers into 6061 Aluminum is a night and day difference from using a 5-point countersink tool. With the 5-point tool you chatter as you cut unless you can slow your drill press down to something like 60 RPM. My lowest setting is 500 RPM so, yeah - the 5-point countersink chatters. These took care of the problem and left a perfectly smooth, even chamfer. They cut relatively quick too. Not sure about using the on mild steel but for aluminum they're perfect. Hope that helps someone that's on the fence wanting to use them on aluminum. After using these I'd buy them again in a heartbeat.

I kept seeing these in youtube woodworking tutorials and was not happy with the old countersinks I have used for years, so I ordered the set. I must say I am completely happy with the purchase. My only warning: HANDLE WITH CARE, they are SHARP! No, I didn't cut myself on them, but I can see how it could happen. Not sure they would be good on metal, but I bought them for woodworking only.

I had high hopes from the other reviews, I found them to cut slowly, load up easily, and did not do well with steel.Can’t recommend but I’ll keep them for wood

This counter sink set comes with most sizes one needs to drill a perfect sink hole. The shape allows for smooth boring and finishing holes

Bought Nov, ‘24 to use on wood. Wanted the variety of sizes. NONE of the 4 sizes in this set will cut - period! Evidently made wrong. My old bits (which are pretty much worn out after 20 years of use), still work better - they cut! Disappointed! Should be Zero stars!Sorry…
