Very slow, but very effective. I removed the handle and use a battery powered drill to turn it

LHS MANUEL COFFEE GRINDERS
The LHS manual coffee grinder is a very handy emergency mechanism. It grinds at different levels and the results are fine.

READ THIS!!!
I’m emphasizing “READ THIS” because I should have read the many reviews other honest people have posted. Save your money and keep shopping. This is more of a physical therapy device than a coffee grinder. If you want a cup of fresh brewed coffee, use a real coffee grinder. After you pass this “device” around enough to tire out a team of Olympic athletes, you may possibly have enough grinds to brew a single cup of coffee. Want coffee Monday morning? Start grinding on Friday night and keep your weekend schedule open. I’m opting not to attempt to return this waste of money, raw materials, and poor engineering in order to spare our postal carrier from the humiliation of potentially being spotted holding it in public. Instead, I will embed this paperweight deep inside a full bag of smelly kitchen garbage with hopes that it will never be seen again and spare me the embarrassment of admitting I fell for this scam of a kitchen gadget. Let’s just say, I’ve found substantially higher quality prizes inside a box of Cracker Jacks! Shame on everyone remotely connected to marketing this…THING!

Grinder works well, plastic is cheap
The Good:This grinder does what it's supposed to do. After a month of daily use, I have been very happy with the consistency of the grind. The Bad:1. The translucent plastic pieces of this grinder are prone to small cracks. That would be the top cover, and more importantly, the container at the bottom that catches the ground coffee. After a month of use, they have dozens of hairline cracks. So far it has held together, here's hoping that continues.2. This grinder takes a lot of manual effort. I've gotten better at it, but it still takes 2 minutes of cranking to get one cup's worth of coffee at a grind level slightly finer than drip. This works well for single serve coffee applications like Aeropress, but would require probably 10 minutes of grinding for a full pot. Also, the grinder is hard to grip while cranking (small and a bit slick).3. The grind size control is extremely basic. When I bought it, I thought there were a handful of fixed grind size settings. That is not really the case. Instead, the selector is a wheel that clicks around in circles endlessly, with no way of knowing the size other than trying it out. This is ok if you always want the same grind size, but it is bad if you want to go back and forth between different grind sizes.

Perfect little grinder for multiple uses!
This is the perfect little hand grinder! The top unscrews to add the beans, it holds a couple of tablespoons at a time. On the bottom side is a switch that allows you to change how fine or coarse you want to grind the beans. This can also be used to grind herbs, I’ve used it to grind fresh rosemary. It’s easy to clean as it comes apart into 3 pieces. It’s small enough to take with you when traveling but large enough to grind a substantial amount of beans or herbs. Definitely a great deal for the price!

The receiver container cracked within a few months
I really wanted to like this grinder. It looks good, feels solid, and it produces good grinds. As others have mentioned, it does take a long time to grind beans. To produce enough for one strong mug of coffee, I have to grind steadily for six or seven minutes. I thought that would be a real issue, but I embraced it as part of my morning ritual. My step counter certainly likes it....but within a couple of months, I already saw cracks forming in the clear plastic receiver that catches the grounds on the bottom of the device. It twists to lock in place, but that is where the cracks formed. It took another couple of months, but eventually pieces of the plastic actually broke away. Now it does not lock in place. I have to be sure to hold it securely while grinding. Of course I am worried that this will ultimately lead to it falling off mid-grind and I will have a mess of espresso grounds all over the place. It will be a substantial clean up at best, or possibly permanent stains on my rug.I have seen in at least one other review that this same thing has happened to other people.
