Sikkens Proluxe SRD 078 Natural 2 Gallon Pack

This deck stain is an awesome product. This is the 3rd time applying this product to this deck in 12 years. This product was originally produced by Akzo-Nobel coatings. It has been repackaged by PPG under the Proluxe name. It’s still the same formula and the preparation is still the same. Preparation is the key to the success of this product. You must follow the directions to have a long lasting finish. It’s very labor intensive but well worth the effort. As stated, this deck is 12 years old, and doe have one bit of rot or deterioration. The first application was done one year after the deck was rebuilt. The product last approximately 4 years before needing to be recoated. This deck is in a wooded area with a lot of moisture and dirt from trees etc. I highly recommend this product. Other sealers may be cheaper and easier to use, but you get what you pay for.

Sikkens is well known, and this product seals and protects for years. We have applied it to our log home every few years, and it looks great, too!

This first seemed to be very pricey. After applying it I have to say it is the best dag-gone stain I have ever used. It not only went on well, it looks super even after a couple of years through sun and snow. I shall continue to purchase this product for our deck.

We used this on our log cabin. Now on our new house did our deck ! Best you can buy. The pictures don't do justice. Looks orange. In person it's not orange. Buy this !

Easy to work with. Does not streak if you overlap coverage. It has a tint, but all stains/preservatives do. It has only been on for 3 months, so cannot comment on durability or life expectancy yet.

Although it's a good product, I had bought this because it was advertised as the original Sikkens. When it arrived, it was the PPG replacement. Looks great on my deck, but only time will tell is it holds up as well as Sikkens.

Well, I first applied this with an airless spray gun. Although sealer label gives adequate instructions, I believe my inexperience with a spray gun led to a waste of stain/sealer. It covered very well, some spots seemingly too well. When using a bristle brush, the application is smooth and even, with very good results.When I bought this, I expected it to be a transparent "natural" sealer. In reality, it imparts a brown shade to the bare wood. It turns out that this is OK, even though it's not what I wanted. The end result is better than what I was originally planning.The label instructions nowhere speak to "stirring." I do not know if this is to be stirred (NOT shaken... sorry, 007.) I did and did not, and I'm still not sure what is recommended. The label info is extensive, and the print is tiny, which I don't favor.The future will tell if this as durable as I'm led to believe.
