A great stand at a decent price

Works like a charm. Easy to set up and use. It is light weight, so in windy outdoor conditions, it may want to fly away, but in the one instance I occurred this problem, I just weighed down the stand. The stand and arm are not flimsy. They're not heavy duty, either, but for this price I wasn't expecting them to be. On the contrary, they were nicer than I expected. They're also pretty strong. I can actually use it with my reflector indoors without any more than the included weight bag as a counter weight. It is precariously balanced, though and not really recommended. Outdoors in a slight breeze, I can use a 1 or 2 lb weight and it works fine. It's extremely easy to adjust and position to where you need it. I've used it in a variety of shoots, from weddings to senior portraits to boudoir shoots. I highly recommend it.

This is a decent Lighting Reflector holder at the right price. It is a bit flimsy and I am not sure if it would stand up to daily use and abuse, but the reflector gets the job done for occasional shoots where I need to use reflectors. The tripod seemed to be air cushioned and the locks worked okay and kept it from collapsing. The base is not high quality or super sturdy, but it is able to support the necessary weight of the arm and a reflector, so it suffices. You will definitely want to use sandbags with this guy. I chose not to attach sandbags to the arm, and placed two sandbags on the base, which should keep it from tipping over on its own, or being bumped and knocked over. The clips on the arm that hold the reflector were sturdy and held on tight enough, although you may want to be careful when using them because I could see that there is a possibility that you could puncture a lower quality reflector if you place the clips at the wrong spot. Overall this is decent equipment at a decent price, and it never hurts to have extra holders and tripods for backup purposes if necessary.

Perfect!

I love that it's well made, fits my other equipment and it's easy to set up. Not too heavy and has many functions!

A Pretty Decent Stand At A Good Price

Just got it yesterday and I love it ... you don't have to be a genius to figure out how to assemble it but some instructions with the product wouldn't hurt ... I can see that the holding clips are not of the best quality so I am going to and would definitely recommend ordering some extra clips to have on hand .. It's very light weight so I will also be getting a weight bag for it or either finding something to hold it steady for those light windy days of use .. but it looks very nice when setup with the reflector mounted .. I would recommend it for certain

Good concept but not meant to last.

I received it 3 days after purchased and it looks gorgeous. Feet is wide enough to handle the wind and it can go from very short 3 1/2' to 8ft, fairly easy to use but the materials feel cheap, plasticky and easy to break. I get that it's meant for lightweight reflectors but you have to be extra careful when mounting stuff to it otherwise it's bye bye.

BAIT AND SWITCH

I bought 2 of these through my business account and they were great. I liked them so much I decided to order one for myself. The one I received for myself was nothing like what is advertised. The adjustable joint that joins the stand to the boom arm is completely different and flimsy. It lacks the adjustable sizes the advertised version has. The spring loaded quick release clamps that hold the reflector are not spring loaded and in fact a screw type that is far less convenient to use. The rubber grip is missing all together. The sandbag pictured is not the same as what I actually received. The seller was quick to offer me a refund, but claimed to have no idea what I was talking about when I told them it was a different stand. They insisted I received what was advertised. I sent them the same picture I'm attaching to this review detailing all of the differences between the stand they advertised versus the one I received and they acted like they didn't understand what I was trying to tell them. This is classic bait and switch and is illegal. I'll be reporting it to Amazon and hope they either update the listing with the stand they are actually selling or get removed as a seller. The stand they are selling is just "okay", I don't know why they don't advertise it honestly.

Works well

Update: After Charlie's comment below I re examined the mount. It has four holes and one fits the arm perfectly. The two other holes are oriented perpendicular to the two holes I was trying. Not completely obvious, but actually a cool design once you figure it out.Old post:I may be using it wrong, but for the life of me can't figure out how the arm can be fixed in place. One hole in the plastic mount is too small, and the other too big. So the arm just kind of rests inside of the larger hole. But if you turn the arm up too high, or down to low, it's going to slide through. But it works fine otherwise. Maybe a sandbag would help.

Not heavy duty, but very good value for money

I bought five of these boom/stand kits for students in an intermediate filmmaking class. One of the five arrived with a broken joint where the legs attach to the stand, and that kit was replaced quickly by the seller. Our kits all came with a plastic grip head in addition to the fairly flimsy stand mount that is attached to the boom; I'd recommend using the grip head instead of the stand mount if you're putting anything heavier than a paper lantern on the end of the boom. I managed to break the handle off of my grip head when the stand/boom assembly, holding a 42" reflector, blew over in a gust of wind. The head still works, but the handle is more of wrench now. These are by no means heavy duty, but they're still useful, and for the price I can't complain.
