Anyone who has used a lamp of this type before understand it is intended to adjust at all 3 joints. Why include lower springs if the joint at the base is not adjustable? The modification makes it impossible to sit the base close to the wall or to effectively adjust the overall height or angle of the flex arm. Spend less than $5 more and get a similar lamp that is fully adjustable. You can "re"modify this product by removing a screw and bolt at the base and tighten the two remaining bolts. To keep it from tipping, I added a bit of weight at the rear of the base. I'm keeping it but its a product that Amazon should stop selling.

This was the Perfect light for what I had in mind. It was easy to put together and it is sturdy and works well. It provides light on my work desk just where I want it. Good value.

Mine came with missing springs and the first joint doesn't even move. Avoid this desk lamp like a plague. It is truly waste of money! 😡

This lamp would have been perfect with its top twist switch if they had designed the bottom extension arm to actually extend correctly and used a much more weighted base to keep it upright. Also the awful included instructions don't mentioned that there are actually 3 bolts and a screw on the bottom joint instead of just the two bolts pictured. The screw locks the lower arm in place and prevents it from changing position and the extra bolt limits the amount of forward and reward movement the lower arm can reach when its extended or retracted. This is to offset the fact that the base does not weight enough to support the lamp in its fully extended positions. I had to remove both the extra bolt and the screw after studying the arm to see why it would not extend into the same position as my previous Architect's lamp. This makes it a very unstable lamp that I had to add additional weights to the base to stabilize it to allow the lamp to reach the advertised positions. Save your money and buy something else.
