Copernicus Toys Real Owl Pellet kit Dissect Real owl pellets | Bone Chart Included

My son finally got around to dissecting his owl pellet and he was not disappointed! He enjoyed every minute of it. He kept saying this is awesome! I bought this item for educational purposes but it also gave my son something else to do besides using his electronics. I am not sure if all pellets are like this but I can only assume it various. In the pellet he found three skulls, two of them looked more complete than the other one. There were a lot of bones: some vertebrae, a tooth, pieces of skull and several other bones we are unsure of. None of these bones were synthetic as others have stated. I wouldn’t expect this many bones in the pellet every time I order one. It’s unrealistic because no one has control of what the owl eats. I guess we got lucky.

This was a perfect addition to our owl study unit for my son. We were skeptical at what we would find but we found A LOT of bones including a skull! He was thrilled and loved this activity! It is worth mentioning that this came with a small bone identifying chart (I wasn't sure if it did when I ordered) In addition to the stick included, we did use a small pair of tweezers and a small magnifying glass which I already had in my science supplies.

I actually bought this for myself , an adult. I remembered dissecting these as a kid. Good quality and great price. Lots of cool bones and little skulls to find! The guide shows you what kind of critter bones you may find and it has pictures of them which are very helpful

This was very interesting to do... It does smell bad though. Lol We found little rodent skulls which was cool... But I noticed there were other sellers offering 5 pellets for about the same price, will probably order from them instead.

This owl pellet was very small. I used it as a dissection demonstration for some younger children. While it did have a skeleton in it, it was not anywhere near complete. Not that you "know" what you're going to get in an owl pellet, but if you get them from a scientific supplier, they do guarantee a skeleton in each pellet. This one was more like a skull and maybe 3 bones. But the kids thought it was cool, so hey.

Bought this as a stocking stuffer for my husband, who loves all things nature. He LOVED it and had a blast. Lots of little bones and fluffs of fur! Husband says that its best to use great care when excavating through the bones because they're very fragile. He ditched the sticks the kit comes with after fracturing the shrew skull and switched to his own tweezers instead. Despite the gruesome act of digging animal remains out of owl puke, there really was no ick factor. It's all dry and tidily packed in a ball.

This was a gift, but the person posted pictures of it on facebook. Like others have stated, this thing is tiny...but I couldn't believe how many bones were in that thing. It's like the entire ball was compacted bones. You do have to be careful not to get to close when you are dissecting it, the breath from a child's nose will blow it (the stuff around the bones) around. It served two purposes for me...it was a gag gift, but it was also really cool. Worth the 8 bucks for sure

false advertising. This is described as a "Real Owl Pellet" when it arrived it clearly said, "synthetic owl pellet." I have gotten real ones online before. This fake one guarantees a full skeleton which is cool if that's what you are looking for, but I wanted a real one.
