I bought this to try it out making ghee from butter. No one else seemed to be using it for this purpose, so it was a bit of an experiment. I have to get the whey and milk proteins out of the butter before eating it as I get a bad reaction from them. As I was heating the melted butter in a double boiler I was able to use this skimmer to easily take off the foamy whey that rose to the top. I was even able to scoop out a lot of the other milk proteins that separated in the process. It was still necessary to strain the ghee through a quadruple layer of very fine cheesecloth after that, but the end product was much cleaner and pretty much pure butter fat. The skimmer worked really well for my purpose.An added bonus was that I also used the skimmer when making chicken and beef stocks. It was so much easier than doing it with a big spoon as I was before, and once again, I got a much clearer end product.

Actually bought to strain small floating debris from soups and stews. Did not realize how fine the screen would be. At first use it appeared to clog up and would not strain. A close look showed me why. It was filled with fat!I now have one of the simplest and best fat skimmer ever! Will be used over and over as a handy kitchen tool I never knew I needed.It's not the best construction of gadgets in my kitchen. That's why I only gave it 4 stars. But at this price I'm very happy. However, I would give it a 5 star for function.

Okay. So yes, it’s just a hot pot skimmer but I have to say that it absolutely does what it says it does: it removes fat from soups and broths. I wish I had found this sooner as I have been going through all sorts of tricks and gyrations in order to remove the fat from the bone broths that I have been making for several years now with little to no success. It’s easy to use, not over engineered, no complications, light weight, easy to clean and does what it was designed for. Super happy with this product and highly recommended.

This is perfect for using to skim cooled fat off of soups - or anything else where you need to skim fat. It also does a great job when you need to remove something from a pot (bay leaf, chicken pieces, etc.). I use mine quite often and really like how sturdy it is - how well made.I have used it to get chicken out of broth regularly. The are often big pieces and it does not bend or flex in any way. I have used it to get fruit out of pitchers, tea bags out of pitchers ... the uses are almost limitless.

The media could not be loaded.  I was so excited when I came across this Letrue hot pot fat skimmer couldn't wait for it to arrive to try it, I was lucky it arrived the day I was cooking a meat soup and came in handy to take out the fat the foam that builds on top of the water it worked so much better than the soup spoon I usually use and a bowl to scoop it out and just make a mess on my sink and have to wash everything. When I used this fat skimmer mesh it was perfect I was able to get everything out in one scoop and I can just empty it directly in the trash. The material is great the mesh is fine will work for other things as well, loved ut so much will be sending my aunt one as well to make her life so much easier with this kitchen gadget, Highly recommend you'll love ut just Like I do Cant go without it in my kitchen anymore

My broth just became worlds better. I have a small strainer that I have used for years but when the scum floats to the top of beef, chicken, or ham broth sometimes what u are trying to strain is extremely fine. I was reading an article about Asian broths and it talked about ultra fine strainers so I bought these. The mesh is so fine there is hardly a perceivable hole. The strainer aside from catching the scum also can glean the broth of ground pepper, spices - anything.Overall, I wish the strainer was sturdier but don’t take that statement as a reason to go to another one - from what I saw they are all pretty well made the same and it’s not that it is built poorly I just wish it was made with heavier materials. The last thing I wish is that it had a little more depth like a typical strainer when you are trying to strain deeper into the pot you have to travel slowly or else it’s almost like passing a spoon through the liquid. - everything just goes to the sides.

LOVE this strainer!!!! Well made, and works perfectly for a multitude of frying/boiling/sautéing/etc. cooking applications with my Staub Dutch oven and fry pans. Every kitchen needs one!

Does what I need it for. Sturdy, overall.
